Miscellany 15 published

Our Brimington and Tapton Miscellany 15 for 2022 was published at the end of September 2023.

It contains the following items:

  • Chronicle of local events in 2022
  • The plague in Brimington (1603-1604) part 1 – were there plague burials at Cowpingle Lane?  By Philip Cousins.
  • A Tapton heraldry mystery solved by Philip Cousins and Paul Freeman. (A longer version of our blog here).
  • My Weller family in Brimington part 1 – George Weller at Brimington Hall, by Ryan Weller
  • Errors and omissions in the census of Brimington, by Paul Freeman. (This takes a look at omissions in one on-line site of Brimington census returns and of the so-called lock-house at Newbridge Lane).

It is of 58 pages and priced at £8 plus postage. Copies can be obtained at our meetings or by post – please contact us for more details.

Look out for another announcement as we’ll soon be publishing our Miscellany 4 on-line and for free!

Members of the group in the year up until September 2023 received a free copy of Miscellany 15.
